Serenity Funeral Home Obituary: William Worth Lanier

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Worth Lanier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. William passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on January 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born on August 18, 1944, in Onslow County, North Carolina, William was the son of Fannie M. Lanier and grew up with a strong foundation of faith and values. He spent his life serving the Lord and being an example of Christ's love to those around him.

William is survived by his loving wife, Patricia McDowell Lanier, whom he married on June 11, 1966. Together, they had two sons: Joey Lanier and his wife Sheila Lanier of Winterville, and Rick Lanier of Beulaville. He was also blessed with two grandchildren: Jason Worth Lanier and his wife Brooke and their three sons, Connor, Ryan, and Finn of Winterville, and Kathryn Gail Lanier and her fiancé Billy Lawrence Phillips of Ayden.

Throughout his life, William was committed to serving the Lord and loving those around him. He was a dedicated member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church and served as a deacon and wherever needed within the church. His family and friends will always remember his kind heart, warm smile, and generosity.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Cedar Fork Baptist Church Building Fund. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 13th, 2023, at 1 PM at Richlands First Free Will Baptist Church with Kenneth Huffman and Danny Padgett officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Community Funeral Home in Beulaville.

William's family would like to extend their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. His passing leaves a great void in the lives of those who knew him, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace with our Lord.
